Overview

A complete redesign and consolidation of the web presence for the Final Fantasy VII franchise.

The Challenge

Historically, every new product had a unique, bespoke website. For the FFVII franchise, this meant that FFVII Remake had a different website from FFVII Remake Intergrade, even ports got their own website. This led to inconsistent branding, poor user experience, and a lack of cohesion across the franchise.

The Approach

I drove the consolidation of that ecosystem into one place, working with the team to recommend an all-encompassing "hub" of FFVII content to stakeholders. I developed prototyping and user testing cycles focused particularly on the purchase flow, to improve core business KPI's, validating that the steps made sense to customers and informed them adequately about what was included in each edition.

The Outcome

Site visibility and authority was improved by 27% via better SEO, reducing fragmentation in traffic and enabling more frequent A/B tests reaching statistical significance, increasing exeriments run by 45%. The maintenance overhead on the team was dramatically decreased at the same time. Conversion via the new purchase flow improved by 18%, along with massive performance and accessibility gains.
